Geo-Petroleum Information Management (Geo-PIM)

Business Needs

Geographic Information Systems influence all aspects of the Oil & Gas industry from locating and extracting new resources to improving field management and ensuring HSE compliance. Advanced mapping and spatial analytics reveal deeper insight into relationships and patterns, answer complex questions, and help executives make informed decisions. Consequently, geospatial data are an intricate component of all Geographic Information System (GIS) projects.

Agiba Petroleum Company uses geospatial data for mapping, analysis, exploration, exploitation, and georeferencing purposes. Hence they need an integrated GIS system that leads to improved communication, greater efficiency, and better decision making. The targets to gain valuable knowledge from data, to drive decisions and actions.

Solution Concept

The main purpose of the project is to provide a scalable GIS platform; its components present a key role model for the Egyptian Petroleum sector. To facilitate and enhance productivity, the project comprises three main spheres; the first is designing a standardized and unified data model that can be used across the petroleum sector,

The second is developing a scalable and flexible GIS platform that can be adopted across all companies, and finally building AGIBA team capacity (for both the staff to work on and the decision-makers to see what is going on) through providing extensive customized GIS training to different system users to work confidently and productively.
